A United Nations employee was arrested on Monday for robbing four banks within a period of two months.
Abdullah Square, a Nigerian national, age 53 was charged with two counts of robbery and two counts of attempted robbery
All robberies are committed during his lunch break at banks within walking distance of the UN headquarters
Mr Shuaibu allegedly committed the first robbery on 27th of February when he walked into a Santander Bank demanding cash from the Teller, threatening to shoot if they didn't comply
In March, he tried to rob a Bank of America but he failed. He later successfully robbed a separate Santander Bank that same month
On Monday, he walked into an HSBC Bank and passed a note to the teller demanding cash. The teller did not read the note and demanded for identification. He told the teller he had a gun and gestured to his hand in his jacket
After he returned to work that afternoon, Mr Square was arrested by the police. A retired police officer working at the UN recognised the robber from a surveillance photo previously released by the New York Police Department
